Home Learning Week 10

Hi wonderful 5/6 students.

Thank you to all those students who have endeavoured to complete their home learning this year. Well done!

This will be our final week of home learning and it is values based.

You will find a template for a cube with this challenge.

We would like you to think of what the world really needs this Christmas.

Colour and decorate the cube with images that reflect peace and love.

On each square, write one wish for the world, for it’s people, creatures and the Earth itself.

What do you believe will truly make the world a better place?

When you have finished, glue the edges of your cube together.

Attach some string or thread so we can hang your wishes in our rooms.

Let’s hope some of your wishes come true! I look forward to seeing and hearing about your wishes for the world.

Planning ahead to Term 4, the teachers have been thinking about our Values program and the area that we would like to focus on. We have decided to explore Resilience.

What is Resilience?

Resilience is the set of attributes that provides people with the strength and fortitude to confront the overwhelming obstacles they are bound to face in life.

In preparation for next term, we wanted to remind students of the poster below which was developed last year and is displayed around the school. This poster reminds students of some of the strategies that they could use to resolve any minor issues while in the yard and helps build resilience.

Welcome back to an exciting Term 4, we hope you have had a wonderful restful break.

Term 4 is very busy as we try to cover many new areas in the curriculum before the end of the year. We also have many planned activities including ‘friendly games’ with other schools, cricket gala day, graduation rehearsal, our yearly MSAC excursion and our centenary celebrations. There’s a lot to look forward to.

This week’s home learning task is a mathematics problem solving activity. There are two sheets attached. One is marked ‘middle’ and the other is slightly harder marked ‘upper’. You can try one or both, which ever one is suited to your ability.

Make sure you show your working out for each problem. It is important that we see the process you used to achieve a result. Good luck!
